The drag queen, who rose to fame on the fourth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race and as a judge on Drag Race Philippines, died days after a severe infection that led to the amputation of her right leg.

Caliente’s family confirmed the news through a heartfelt statement posted on the artist’s official Instagram: “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bianca Castro-Arabejo, known and loved by many as Jiggly Caliente.

Bianca passed away peacefully at 4:42 a.m., surrounded by her family and close friends.” While the official cause of death has not been disclosed, sources suggest complications related to the infection and amputation surgery may be linked.

Jiggly Caliente, whose stage name was inspired by the Pokémon character Jigglypuff, captivated audiences with her infectious energy, sharp humor, and unapologetic authenticity.

Born in the Philippines and raised in New York, Bianca came out as transgender in 2016 and used her platform to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. Beyond her appearances on RuPaul’s Drag Race and All Stars 6, she also shone in the series Pose (2018), where she was celebrated for her role as Bianca Castro, a personal milestone in her career.

The news of her passing sparked an outpouring of tributes on social media. Michelle Visage, a longtime Drag Race judge, wrote: “My Jiggles… Your laughter was endless, our talks were special, your energy was infectious. You were and will always be so loved.” Other Drag Race stars, including Manila Luzon, Marina Summers, and June Jambalaya, her “drag daughter,” shared emotional messages, highlighting Caliente’s impact as a friend, mentor, and icon.

World of Wonder, the production company behind RuPaul’s Drag Race, issued an official statement: “We are devastated by the loss of Jiggly Caliente, a cherished member of the Drag Race family. Her light, humor, and love touched us all. We send our condolences to her family and friends.”

Caliente leaves behind a legacy of courage, artistry, and activism. Her family requested privacy during this time of grief but expressed gratitude for the continued support from fans. “Though her physical presence is gone, the joy she shared and the space she created for so many will live on forever,” the family’s statement concluded.

Jiggly Caliente will be forever remembered as a vibrant force who brought love and authenticity to the world. Rest in peace, Bianca.
